Introduction

Welcome to Version 3.0 of OUR WHY - a guide to Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment’s company purpose, goals, structure and culture.

The ideas and concepts outlined in this book are not new. Over the past few years, we have defined goals, core values, and behaviors to guide what we pursue, how we act, and what we do. This is a further articulation of those concepts, with tangible examples that bring them to life in a way that each of us can see how our roles support the big picture.

This isn’t an employee handbook—this book serves a distinct purpose. It captures our shared purpose and commitments. It’s designed to help every employee — whether you’re brand-new or have been with us for years — understand our identity and our goals.

The concepts in this book are fundamental to the long-term success of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment. Together, we can pursue what we stand for, enrich what makes us unique, and thrive as a collective.

Throughout this book, you will also see reference to The Brooklyn Way. That phrase is used often across Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, but we want to articulate what it means in the context of OUR WHY and how it guides our approach to our businesses.

We believe that Brooklyn is unique, rich in culture and history, and that the flavor of the borough is inextricably tied to the experiences we offer.

Through significant market research, we have synthesized The Brooklyn Way into four attributes:

These attributes separate Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment from the pack. This je ne sais quoi is difficult to pinpoint but has an allure that is undeniable and unforgettable.

This updated version includes new, more recent examples of cross-collaboration, highlighting how businesses and functions work together to bring initiatives to life. It also addresses our most updated company priorities for FY 26/27 and beyond.

In FY 26/27, our primary focus will remain on our core businesses—the Brooklyn Nets, New York Liberty, and Barclays Center—and on delivering exceptional experiences for our fans, partners, and guests. Across these businesses, we remain committed to three key objectives: strengthening fan and customer engagement and affinity, growing our local fanbase, and driving sustainable revenue growth.

Some of our most important priorities this year include:

Outside of our core businesses, we will be highly selective about where we invest. This year, our primary corporate development efforts will focus on launching Casa Tua Cucina at One Hanson across from the Arena and bringing our new Magic concept to Midtown Manhattan—two projects that further strengthen our position as an entertainment and hospitality company while complementing our core portfolio.
